UNDERSTANDING YOUR EXTERIOR-CLEANING QUOTE
The right cleaning method starts with the material.
People often use “power washing” and “pressure washing” when asking for exterior cleaning. Those search terms do not tell you which technique is appropriate for a particular wall, tile or driveway. The important conversation is about the material, its condition and the result being requested.

Ask what the proposed work includes and how the surface will be assessed. If a quote mentions soft washing, hot water or another particular treatment, confirm what that means for your property and whether that equipment or method is included. Do not infer a hot-water system simply from the phrase “power washing.”
Share information about the finish.
Paint, sealers, loose joints, fragile tiles and previous repairs can affect the approach. Tell the team what you know and share the relevant manufacturer’s care instructions if available. Photographs can help identify questions to review, but the method should be confirmed for the actual surface.
Separate removable dirt from existing damage.
A clean surface may still show wear, discoloration, damaged coatings or repairs. Agree the expected result and any limitations before the work begins. Cleaning is a different task from repainting, repairing, sealing or waterproofing; additional work must be agreed explicitly.
